If you hold a student visa, you may be permitted to work during your studies. Your digital immigration status (eVisa) will state whether you are allowed to work up to 10 or 20 hours per week during term time, depending on your course. You must not rely on part-time work as your main source of income, and jobs must fit around your academic schedule.

Please note, some restrictions apply. You cannot be self-employed, work as an entertainer or professional sportsperson (including coaches), or take a full-time permanent job. Students on part-time visas are not permitted to work at all.

You can read the Student Route Caseworker Guidance (see page 91 onwards) for information and guidance on working in the UK on your student visa.

Once you successfully complete your programme and meet the required progression criteria, you’ll be able to transition directly into your chosen degree course at the London Metropolitan University.
